About us

People-first NDIS support, built for Melbourne.

Helping Haven was founded by Melbourne support workers who’d seen too many participants cycle through too many providers. We built the team we wished we’d worked for — and the support our families wished they’d had.

What we believe

Choice and control aren’t slogans — they’re how we roster. Every participant gets a say in who supports them, when, and how. We will say no to shifts we can’t deliver well, and yes to ones where we can build a real relationship.

How we hire

Every support worker holds an NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and a Working with Children Check, and completes our Code-of-Conduct, manual-handling and trauma-informed-care training before their first shift. We hire for kindness first, skills second.

Quality & safeguards

Helping Haven is a registered NDIS provider, audited against the NDIS Practice Standards. We comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct and welcome feedback at any time. See our Quality & Safeguards page for detail and our Feedback & Complaints process.

Why "Helping Haven"

A haven is a safe, welcoming place. That’s what we want every shift to feel like — for the participant, for the family, and for the worker. Helping isn’t a transaction. It’s a relationship.

Our service principles

1

Continuity over capacity

We grow only as fast as we can keep our existing rosters consistent. Faster growth than that would compromise the work.

2

Match, don't allocate

We don’t auto-fill shifts. A real person at Helping Haven looks at every match — gender, language, culture, hobby fit — before a worker is sent.

3

Plain language always

Service agreements, plans, conversations — all in everyday English. Easy Read versions for any participant who wants them.

4

The participant's plan, not ours

We deliver against your goals. We will tell you when something we offer isn’t the best fit, and we’ll point you to who is.
